You Can Buy Boobs…

By RustyRuss 8/13/10 5:50 PM

I was at the gym the other day…sculpting my guns (1001, 1002…I don’t know if you heard me counting, but I did over 1000)…and I was people watching in between sets.  I’m sure most of you are like me and enjoy watching different people and how they engage in everyday life.  So I’m sitting there on the bench and I keep seeing different women who have been “surgically enhanced” maneuvering through the free-weight area like piranhas waiting for a ham-hock to be tossed into the waters.  I observed that this ritual they were performing was not some synchronized dance, but rather a desperate attempt to be noticed by the other homo sapiens of the male variety that happened to also be working on enhancing their pectoral region…the natural way.  I’m sure this comes as quite the shocker, but due to the piranhas’ previous purchases, these gentleman were more than willing to drop the iron they were pumping for what seemed like stimulating conversation.

So it worked…the ladies got the desired attention that they (and a team of doctors) had worked so hard for…they got what they really wanted…I guess.  As I watched this for a while I started to try and put myself in their shoes and I began to ask…what else?  What goes beyond getting noticed because of some physical attributes?  Is there anything deeper?  It appeared to me that these women had invested so much in their physical appearance just so that somebody would pay attention to them….but is that really fulfilling?  If you’re only important because of your looks, particularly if you weren’t important until you adopted those twins, it’s gotta leave you feeling pretty empty inside once you leave the gym or supermarket or wherever you’re trying to get that attention.  See that attention is fleeting, and no amount of nipping and tucking is going to prevent it from swaying to the newer, younger, and upgraded versions once your Swag turns into Sag.

The point here is not to bag on cougars, nor is it to judge those who have invested in silicone deposits…the issue is that we all place way too much importance on the external and not nearly enough on the internal.  Here’s a gut check for all of us…What’s on your inside?  How pretty are you beneath the surface?  I can’t imagine what this world would be like if we all were much more recognized and valued for our honesty, integrity, character, ability to forgive, patience, kindness, and compassion rather than our waist and bra size…maybe we should give it a shot.

You can buy a lot of things…including physical appearance…but you can’t buy a soul.
